ISTANBUL - Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler said on Thursday that Istanbul is ready for NATO Summit which will be held between June 28 and 29.
Guler held a briefing regarding the security measures which were taken for NATO 2004 Summit.
Guler said that they were preparing for NATO Summit on the most secure way.
Guler said that heads of states and governments, foreign ministers, defense ministers and probably chief of general staffs of 46 countries would attend the Summit.
Noting that security was significant for the summit in which 3,000 officials and 3,500 press members would attend, Guler said that security measures on highest level were planned.
Guler said that 12,568 security personnel would work throughout the Summit.
Eurovision Song Contest, The 75th Congress of the World Association of Newspapers (WAN) and 11th World Editors Forum (WEF), the Second Conference of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Ministers Responsible for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMSEs) and the 31st session of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Foreign Ministers' Conference were held in Istanbul in May and June.
