ISTANBUL - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas said on Wednesday that they held very significant talks that would contribute to economy of TRNC during the 31st session of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Foreign Ministers in Istanbul.
Stating that TRNC and representatives of Islamic Development Bank restarted dialogue after a long time, Denktas said that he also had meeting with representatives of Islamic Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Denktas said that representatives of Islamic Chambers of Commerce and Industry would pay a visit to TRNC soon, noting that economic initiatives toward TRNC would become definite during their meetings in TRNC.
Denktas stressed that they attached great importance to lifting economic embargoes imposed on TRNC.
Stressing that OIC meeting in Istanbul was very successful for Turkey and TRNC, Denktas said that Pakistan and Bangladesh carried out studies in favor of TRNC.
He underlined that he was very pleased that Africa group supported TRNC.
Stating that he had a meeting with Russian delegation, Denktas said that he had impression that Russian side did approach warmly to direct flights to TRNC. He noted that starting direct flights to TRNC was necessary for development of tourism sector.
