ANKARA - The Confederation of Employers' Unions (TISK) Chairman Refik Baydur said on Wednesday, ''International Monetary Fund (IMF) said it considers the increase in minimum wages for the first six months of 2004 as unfavorable.''
Baydur met with IMF delegation headed by Turkey Desk Chief Reza Moghadam.
Baydur said after the meeting that they conveyed their views about economy and working life to IMF and added that IMF considered the increase in minimum wages for the first six months of 2004 as unfavorable. Baydur said that IMF told that increase in minimum wage would have some effects on economy.
Noting that IMF stressed unregistered economy issue, Baydur said that they agreed on taking necessary measures within that scope.
Baydur said that IMF attributed importance to non-governmental organizations as guiding institutions and considered them as the institutions which would realize the recommendations.
