ANKARA - Turkish State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin said on Tuesday that decree on granting right of usufruct to Assumption Priests' Society regarding land that was seen under the structure of Foundations General Directorate was opened for signature.
Sahin informed reporters about the meeting of Council of Ministers.
Sahin recalled that a suit on Assumption Priests' Society had been filed against Turkey in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and Turkey had proposed friendly settlement.
Stating that former governments had not fulfilled requirement of friendly settlement, Sahin said, ''our government has decided to fulfill requirement of friendly settlement on the issue. It also opened to signature the decree on granting right of usufruct to Assumption Priests' Society in accordance with the decision of the Foundations General Directorate that was taken in the meeting of Council of Ministers on Tuesday. I guess that signing the decree is completed.''
