BERLIN - Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc said on Tuesday that Turkey has recorded significant progress and reforms on its European Union (EU) path recently.
German-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Group Chairperson Claudia Roth hosted a dinner in honor of Arinc, who is currently in Berlin as the guest of German Federal Parliament Speaker Wolfgang Thierse.
Arinc said that relations between parliaments of Turkey and Germany were further improved and noted that improvement of relations showed that relations and friendship between the two countries reached a very good point.
''We have held very important meetings in Berlin. Our talks will continue,'' he noted.
Roth said that they supported reform process in Turkey and stated that comprehensive reforms that were fulfilled in Turkey also showed their effect there. Roth added that supporting this reform process is also to the benefit of Germany.
Recalling that there were some different views on Turkey's EU membership, Roth said that however EU made promise that if Turkey fulfilled the criteria, it would start membership negotiations with Turkey.
