Prime Minister Erdogan: Some Circles Are Trying To Overshadow G-8 Summit

ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who also acts as leader of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), said on Tuesday, ''some circles are trying to overshadow the G-8 Summit.''
Speaking at the parliamentary group meeting of the AK Party, Prime Minister Erdogan said, ''as you know, I attended the G-8 Summit in the United States last week. I held very useful meetings with representatives of the G-8 countries.''
Recalling that Turkey had attended the meeting as a 'democratic partner', Prime Minister Erdogan said, ''I want to underline it once again. Turkey was not represented at the summit as a 'targeted country'. Some circles are trying to overshadow the summit by keeping some issues on agenda. The G-8 Summit enabled us to explain Turkey's views in an international platform. Those, who could not have the courage to explain Turkey's sensitivities and priorities, are now trying to overshadow our government's success.''
