ISTANBUL - The second day meetings of the 31st Session of Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers started in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Following the general assembly meetings, Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will host a luncheon in honor of heads of delegations of D-8 countries on the occasion of D-8 Day.
The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Secretariat General will arrange reports of committees and prepare the Istanbul Declaration.
At the end of the end, the participants will have sightseeing tour through Istanbul Strait.
Meanwhile, the Asian Group is expected to convene again later in the day to try to reach a consensus on one of the three candidates.
While most of member countries to the OIC support Turkey's candidate Ekmelettin Ihsanoglu, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are not positive about Turkey's secretariat general.
Within the last 20 days, Gul paid visits to both Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and asked their support to Turkey's candidate.
Under the practices of the OIC, the method of compromise is used to elect the new secretary general.
