SIRNAK (CÝHAN) - 1 Turkish troop was killed in rebel clash in province of Sýrnak on June 14, the Turkish General Chief said on Tuesday. In the same clash, 1 Gendarmerie Sergeant and 1 Gendarmerie Commander were wounded.
The wounded troops were taken to Sýrnak Military Hospital. The military operation in region is underway.
One PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorist was killed in the central Turkish province of Tunceli in a clash with Turkish security forces.
Turkish security forces, carrying out patrols in the region, engaged fire with PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorists in the village of Kacarlar near Tunceli. In the exchange, a Tunceli representative of the PKK/KONGRA-GEL Tuncay Keskek, codenamed Roshat, was killed. One assault rifle and four clips were captured found with the killed terrorist.
A few hundred PKK terrorists are believed to be active in the eastern part of Turkey. However, intelligence sources say that some PKK militants have infiltrated Turkey from neighboring Iraq in recent weeks.
