Izmir Mayor Ahmet Piristina Dies Of Heart Attack

ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Piristina died of a heart attack on Tuesday. He was at home at the time.
The 52-year old Piristina was reelected as mayor of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality for the second time on March 28. He had garnered 45 percent of the votes.
Born in Izmir, Piristina represented his hometown in the Turkish parliament in 1995.
Piristina has two children.
Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey with a population of 3.37 million (2000 census).
