MOSCOW (CIHAN) - Five guards of the Russian-backed Chechen President were killed in a clash with Chechen rebels.
Chechnya Intelligence Agency chairman Artur Ahmadov said on Tuesday that two presidential guards were killed in a clash with Chechen fighters in the region of Shali while three later died of injuries in a hospital.
Ten Chechen fighters were killed in the same clash.
The son of the late Ahmet Kadirov, Ramzan Kadirov launched operations in the region following the senior Kadirov's assassination on May 6.
Chechen fighters had killed 11 Russian soldiers in mid-May.
The Russian Interior Ministry also launched an intensive anti-terror operation in its southern region following Kadirov 's assassination.
