ANKARA (CÝHAN) - The chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahceli underwent coronary artery bypass surgery on Monday. Bahceli had been suffering from chest pain for 10 days.
The surgery reroutes blood around clogged arteries to improve blood flow and oxygen to the heart. Bahceli had three clogged arteries that were bypassed.
The surgery was performed at the Private Güven Hospital. The hospital administration has issued no statements on the surgery.
Former Turkish Health Minister Osman Durmus, visiting the hospital, said that Bahceli's health condition is good.
Bahceli was also visited by the former Turkish parliament speaker Ömer Ýzgi and his wife, the Turkish Idealist Associations Chairman Ali San Satilmiþ, and MHP General Accountant Ümit Safak.
