ANKARA (CÝHAN) - The Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Murat Basesgioglu said on Monday that they want to gather the social security system under a skeleton and they are preparing to adopt a new General Health Insurance system.
The Minister Basesgioglu met with the IMF delegation that has continuing its current round of talks in the framework of the 8th review studies on Monday and he delivered a press statement after his meeting with the IMF delegation headed by IMF Turkish Desk Chief, Rýza Moghadam.
Expressing they aim to remove the negative effect of the social security system on the budget Basesgioglu said that necessary measures on this issue must be taken immediately.
Basesgioglu said that they talked with IMF delegation about the Social Security Reform. He went on to speak that they aim to gather the social security system under a skeleton and in addition, they are preparing to pass to the General Health Insurance system.
Expressing they aim to establish the Social Relief and Service Institution Basesgioglu said that, "The health services will be gathered under a skeleton. Also, we aim to occur an institutional structure. The technical infrastructure will be provided and the sufficient opportunities concerning every subject will be contained within this structure."
Basesgioglu also noted that the social security system must be taken under discipline and if these studies are not being made in good time, the additional costs will rise and macro imbalances will appear at the budget.
Responding a question concerning the additional cost occurring due to the implementing of social security reform Basesgioglu said that the foreseen targets for the first five months of 2004 were realized and the health expenses were actualized under the targetted numbers.
