ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - Iranian Foreign Minister Kemal Harrazi, the current president of the Organization of Islamic Conferences, said on Monday that the OIC aims to unite Muslim nations in a globalized world.
Representatives of 56 Muslim countries have gathered to discuss the controversial issues within the Islamic World, including the Israel - Palestine conflict, Cyprus, Afghanistan, international terrorism, the Greater Middle East Initiative and the reconstruction of post-war Iraq.
Speaking at the opening session of the OIC Foreign Minister Summits, term president Iranian Foreign Minister Kermal Harrazi said that Islamic countries would contribute to the globalization of the world.
Referring to relations between the OIC and European Union, Harrazi said that strong ties and dialogues exist between the two organizations. Harzari said that cooperation will be improved further.
Turkey will take over the presidency of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
The Iranian Foreign Minister said that the organization would actively reach its targets under the presidency of the Turkish Republic.
Meanwhile, the outgoing president Harrazi held a meeting with incoming president Abdullah Gül to discuss regional and bilateral relations.
