ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - Consumer loans during the first quarter of 2004 increased to a record level due to the resurgence in the Turkish economy. A total of 855,378 people availed themselves of 5 quadrillion 110 trillion Turkish Liras in loans during January-March 2004.
The Turkish Banks Association has just revealed its Consumer Loans Consolidated Report for March 2004. According to this report, the number of people who took advantage of credit during the first quarter of 2004 rose by 112 percent to 855,378 people compared with the same period of 2003.
The number of people availing themselves of consumer credits reached its highest level after the record level 892,000 people for April-June 2000. Meanwhile, the total credit sought rose by 325 percent to 5 quadrillion 110 trillion TL during January-March 2004.
