ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Abdullah Gül said in a speech addressed to the Conference on the Islamic World in the 21st Century taking place in Istanbul on Saturday that peace in the Middle East would not be possible without the solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Turkish Foreign Minister Gül stressed the necessity for reforms in the Muslim World and added that the problems of the Muslim World would be resolved through realistic and rational solutions.
Pointing to the current reforms in Turkey carried out with a view to meeting the EU Copenhagen criteria, Abdullah Gül said that Turkey`s reforms could be taken as an example by the Muslim world.
Abdullah Gül also reiterated Turkey`s demand that reforms in the scope of the Greater Middle East Project of the United States should not be imposed on Muslim countries but should be called for from within the countries thmeselves.
Abdullah Gül said that reforms should be brought in gradually - not instantly, and also called on Muslim countries to show interest in problems outside their borders.
