700 ODP Members Hold Demonstration In Ankara Against NATO Istanbul Summit

ANKARA (CIHAN) - Members of the Freedom and Solidarity Party (ODP) held a demonstration in Ankara today against the NATO Summit to be held between June 28 and 29 in Istanbul. Turkish police intervened during the demonstration and 10 demonstrators were slightly wounded in the resulting scuffles.
Nearly 700 ODP members who came to Ankara from Turkish different cities gathered in Kurtulus Park early on Saturday in order to demonstrate against the upcoming NATO Summit in Istanbul. The group chanted slogans and held banners which criticized US President George W. Bush and the NATO Summit.
The clash with the police took place when the protestors began to move in the direction of the US Embassy. The group issued a press statement before breaking off their protest.
