WASHINGTON - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan proceeded from Washington to Chicago on Friday.
Erdogan will attend a meeting on Middle East in Chicago.
Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan, who went to Savannah, the United States, on Tuesday, attended G-8 summit in Sea Island. Erdogan met with leaders attended the summit at lunch on Wednesday.
At the summit of the G-8 countries -- the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada and Russia, leaders will explain their opinions on the United States' Broad Middle East and North Africa project.
The summit is held with participation of ''democratic partner'' Turkey and the countries that were invited under the project.
Leaders of G-8 countries, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Afghanistan and Iraq's new president, Ghazi al-Yawar, and Erdogan attended the lunch.
Holding a press conference, Erdogan quoted U.S. President George Bush as saying that Turkey had done everything in its power about the Cyprus issue. Erdogan also said that coalition forces in Iraq should transfer sovereignty to interim government soon and Iraq should build its own future.
Erdogan also noted in the press conference that Turkey would fulfil its responsibilities in efforts to provide peace in the Middle East.
Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan met with United Nations (UN) Secretary General Kofi Annan on Thursday and discussed Cyprus and Iraq.
Erdogan told reporters on Friday that the United States should take concrete steps about the terrorist organization PKK. Later, Erdogan met with representatives of Jewish community in Washington.
