Turkey Has Become An Exporter Country

IZMIR (CIHAN) - Turkish Minister for Foreign Trade, Kürsad Tüzmen stated on Friday that Turkish exports are institutionalized and Turkey has become an exporter country.
Attending the opening ceremony of the Aegean Exporters' Association in Izmir, Tüzmen said that five years exports totaled 25-26 billion dollars a year but have now grown to 50 billion dollars a year. Total Turkish exports during the last 12 months was 54 billion dollars. A target goal is to reach 500 billion dollars in exports a year by the 100th anniversary of founding of the Turkish Republic."
Tüzmen stated that Turkey be one of 20 countries, which are progressing forward, with its 140 billion dollars foreign trade volume. Turkish exports to developed countries between January 1 and May 31, 2004 increased at a significant level compared with last year. Turkish exports to the United Kingdom during this period rose by 46.2 percent, by 26.8 percent to US, by 30.6 percent to Italy, by 43.4 percent to France, by 36.7 percent to Netherlands, by 43.6 percent to Russia, by 39.2 percent to Denmark and by 45.5 percent to Spain."
Minister Tüzmen noted that, "These numbers demonstrate the quality of exports made by Turkish exporters. Turkey sells quality products to the world."
