ANKARA - UN Special Advisor Lakhdar Brahimi on the Political Situation in Iraq would come to Istanbul to attend sixth meeting of Iraq's neighboring countries that would be held under the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) foreign ministers' meeting between June 14-16, sources said on Thursday.
Sources said that also UN Secretary General Kofi Annan was invited to Istanbul, but Brahimi would attend meetings on behalf of Annan as Annan would have an intense program.
Meanwhile, sources said that Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari would represent Baghdad in meetings in Istanbul.
Meanwhile, Ankara responded in the affirmative the visit request of Patriotic Union of Iraqi Kurdistan (PUK) leader Jalal Talabani.
Talabani is expected to visit Ankara after OIC meeting in Istanbul ends.
