ANKARA - There were not any developments in condition of Turkish people kept hostage in Iraq, Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Namik Tan said on Thursday.
Tan told a weekly press conference that Turkish authorities were exerting utmost efforts for release of Turkish hostages in Iraq.
Some of Turks who were abducted were released after they had been warned not to work with U.S. companies which had undertaken reconstruction projects in Iraq, Tan said.
Tan noted that Turkey was closely following the developments.
On one hand Turkish Embassy in Baghdad had launched initiatives and talks with the coalition in Iraq, on the other hand Turkey contacted influential Iraqi people and groups who were believed to be useful for release of Turkish citizens kept hostage in that country, Tan stated.
Tan added, ''we are exerting utmost efforts for release of our citizens kept hostage by the Iraqis, but there has not been any new development.''
Two administrators of Serka Construction Company Adnan Azizoglu and Tarkan Arikoglu, and their Turkmen driver Fethi Kiyas were kidnapped on their way from Fallujah to Mosul on Tuesday morning. Later they were all released.
Bulent Yanik, a truck driver, and an Egyptian driver, who were carrying supplies to Iraq, had been kidnapped last week.
