Obama wins Iowa, Clinton in third: official results

DES MOINES - Illinois Senator Barack Obama Thursday won the Iowa caucuses in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, beating Hillary Clinton into third place, official results showed.
Obama won the backing of 37.58 percent of the Iowa delegates, leaving the other candidates battling it out for second place, with John Edwards on 29.75 percent and Clinton finishing on 29.47 percent.
