Clinton vows to battle on nationwide after Iowa loss

DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan 3, 2008 (AFP) - Hillary Clinton on Thursday vowed to wage a nationwide campaign across the rest of America, after slumping to defeat to Democratic rival Barack Obama in the Iowa leadoff nominating contest.
Clinton said she was "optimistic" and "confident" going into the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, and said she had always intended to wage a campaign across the whole country.
"I am so ready for the rest of this campaign and I am so ready to lead," Clinton said in a short speech at her Iowa headquarters, flanked by former president Bill Clinton and members of her family.
