-GULER: "WE ATTACH IMPORTANCE TO RESTORATION OF CULTURAL ARTWORKS"
ISTANBUL - Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler said on Wednesday they attached special emphasis to restoration of cultural artworks within the scope of Istanbul's bid for the title of Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010.
Guler stated Istanbul Special Provincial Administration allocated 66.5 million YTL for 400 projects in the metropolis in 2007 (One dollar equals 1.18 YTL). "Most of the projects are in Fatih district. A source of 20 million YTL was granted to Fatih Municipality for its 60 projects. 55 of them have been completed," Guler said.
"We will focus on preliminary works for the title of Cultural Capital of Europe in 2008 and 2009," he added.
