Talat: 2008 May Be A Year For Solution In Cyprus

LEFKOSA - Mehmet Ali Talat, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), said Tuesday he expects a serious initiative following the "presidential" elections in south Cyprus in February.
Speaking to Turk Agency-Cyprus (TAK), Talat indicated that the results of elections in south Cyprus are important for a solution in Cyprus.
"Relations between the two societies are getting cold. If we can not get a result out of the new process, this could be the last process before the United Nations (UN) seeks different ways in Cyprus," Talat noted.
"Turkish Cypriots are the victims of the problem in Cyprus. Therefore, we have an obligation to work hard. We are preparing to welcome 2008 as a year of a new opportunity. This new opportunity may make 2008 as the year of solution in Cyprus," Talat indicated.
