Gul: We Wish That Albania Will Be Given A Perspective At Nato Summit

ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday that, ''we wish that Albania will be given a perspective at NATO Summit to be held in Istanbul between June 28 and 29, 2004.''
Gul held a joint news conference with Foreign Minister Kastriot Islami of Albania.
Recalling that Albania wanted to become a member of NATO, Gul said, ''Turkey is one of the countries supporting open-gate policy of NATO. We wish that Albania will be given a perspective at NATO Summit to be held in Istanbul between June 28 and 29. Turkey will exert all kinds of support to Albania to this end.''
Pointing out that there had not been any political problems between Turkey and Albania, Gul said that commercial and economic relations between the two countries had been further developing.
He said that Turkey and Albania would sign a free trade agreement soon.
Noting that Turkey appreciated Albania's role in efforts to provide stability in the Balkans, Gul said that regional developments and the bilateral relations were high on agenda of their meeting.
