TIRANA - Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul met on Wednesday with Albanian Prime Minister Fatos Nano and Albanian Defense Minister Pandeli Majko.
Gonul said in the joint news conference held after meeting that Albania was an important country for Turkey, adding that relations between two countries were perfect not only on defense field but also on all fields.
Noting that they had a very beneficial meeting, Gonul said that they decided to increase cooperation in industry field and Turkey evaluated reform process in Albania's armed forces during the meeting.
Gonul said that Turkey would support Albania's membership to NATO during NATO Summit which will be held in Istanbul in June. He added that his visit to Albania prior to NATO Summit was a supportive message of Turkey to Albania.
Albanian Defense Minister Majko said that Turkish Armed Forces had a great support to Albanian Armed Forces and added that Turkey was a special country for Albania.
Noting that the visit of Gonul prior to NATO summit was a special message for them, Majko said that Turkey was a country which would support Albania's NATO membership.
Gonul then met with Albanian Prime Minister Nano.
