Turkey Calls On New Administrators Of Iraq To Undertake Responsibilities Against Terrorism Threat From Iraq To Other Countries

NEW YORK - Turkey on Wednesday called on new administrators of Iraq, which gained sovereignty with the UN resolution, to undertake their responsibilities against terrorism threat from Iraq toward other countries.
Turkey's Permanent Representative to UN Umit Pamir told a meeting of Iraq's Friends Group that UN resolution on Iraq was an important milestone in transition process in Iraq.
Pamir said Turkish wished the decision to help a united, independent and sovereign Iraq to live in peace, and called on all the political actors in Iraq to act with restraint and responsibility.
Pamir stressed that interim government had important assignments, noting that the new administrators were obliged to arrange the elections within six months, fulfill political transition process, create a secure and stable atmosphere and upgrade the living quality of Iraqi people.
Pamir thanked for the efforts of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Special Representative Lahdar Brahimi and noted that Turkey was pleased over the efforts of Brahimi to hold negotiations with all sections of Iraqi community.
Meanwhile, a decision was taken in Iraq's Friends Group meeting to hold sixth foreign ministers meeting of countries neighboring Iraq and Regional Countries within the scope of OIC meeting.
Lahdar Brahimi will attend the meeting representing UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
