Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan In United States

SAVANNAH - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Savannah, the United States for G-8 summit on Tuesday.
Erdogan and accompanying delegation later flew to Sea Island.
Stating that he considered the G-8 summit an important opportunity to discuss steps that would be taken for peace and assess developments in the Middle East and North Africa, Erdogan said that they hoped that steps to be taken in this summit would bring benefits to both people of the region and also humanity.
Replying to a question, Erdogan said that he could not attend funeral of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan due to his program in the United States.
When asked whether or not he believed this summit would bring democracy to Islamic world, Erdogan said, ''this is a process. As you know, Turkey is a country which united culture of democracy and Islamic culture. We hope that applications in the summit will be model for both the Middle East and North Africa.''
