ANKARA - Turkey's summoning Turkish Ambassador to Israel Feridun Sinirlioglu and Turkish Consul General in Jerusalem Huseyin Avni Bicakli to Ankara for a short period of time was not a reaction to Israel but a routine work, sources said on Tuesday.
Sources noted that Sinirlioglu who arrived in Ankara on Monday had a meeting with Turkish Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal on Tuesday. Sources stated that Bicakli was expected to arrive in Ankara this evening.
Latest developments in the Middle East would be discussed in Turkish diplomats' meetings in Ankara, sources said and noted that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's plan to pull out unilaterally of Gaza that was approved in his cabinet last Sunday would also be assessed.
Noting that Sinirlioglu and Bicakli were summoned to Ankara for a short period of time, sources said that it did not aim a reaction to Israel, but it was ''a routine work''.
Sources stressed that Sharon's plan created a new situation, stating that many countries searched for answers to questions ''whether the plan would bring benefits and speed up peace process, if the plan would be under 'road map'.''
Those questions will be evaluated in diplomats' meetings.
Sources stated that Sinirlioglu and Bicakli could have meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and added that they were expected to depart from Ankara on Thursday.
