ANKARA - Turkish General Staff said on Wednesday that Turkish warplanes hit 8 caves and hideouts in Zap region of north of Iraq in an "effective pinpoint operation".
The statement said Turkish Armed Forces has been monitoring a large terrorist group preparing to spend the winter in those caves and hideouts for a long time .
The statement said warplanes struck the targets belonging to the terrorist group on December 26th, 2007 (today).
"Operations within the country are also underway with resolve. 5 terrorists, 2 of them female, were rendered ineffective in an operation waged in Kupeli Mountain in Sirnak on December 25th," the statement said.
