Turkish Observer On Uzbek Presidential Election

TASHKENT - Turkish academician Mehmet Seyfettin Erol, who has monitored the presidential election in Uzbekistan as an observer, said Tuesday the Uzbek people voted for security, stability and a great Uzbekistan.
"The election was held in a transparent way," Ass. Prof. Erol of Gazi University's International Relations Department told A.A correspondent after Islam Karimov won Sunday's presidential election to serve for another seven-year term.
Erol said Uzbekistan is a key country in Central Asia and stability in this country and the region has been guaranteed as a result of Karimov's successful policy.
"After casting his vote in the election, Karimov gave a message to Turkey and said Turkey is a country close to them, because of its language and its feelings," Erol also said.
