ANTALYA - Volkan Simsek, chairperson of Professional Hoteliers Association (POYD), said Tuesday that 2008 would be a better year for the Turkish tourism .
"Europe started to discover Turkey again," said Simsek, in an interview with A.A.
Simsek said there would be a significant increase in the number of tourists arriving from Germany, Britain, Benelux countries and Balkans, next year. He also said more tourists from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus would visit Turkey in 2008.
"Tourists from Middle Eastern countries such as Iran, Israel, Lebanon and Jordan prefer Turkey as a holiday destination as well," Simsek added.
Simsek said that Turkish Culture & Tourism Ministry carried out a successful promotion campaign to introduce Turkey.
"As representatives of the Turkish tourism sector, we believe that Turkey will soon become the 5th country which earns the most from tourism," Simsek said.
