SUBWAY BOMBER
Istanbul police followed a 30-year-old PKK terrorist and arrested him before he caused bloodshed at the Mecidiyekoy subway station. A few civilian police officers neutralized him in front of ticket office. They found 3 kilograms of A-4 plastic explosives in the back pack of the bomber. The scene was closed to traffic and the remote-control mechanism of the bomb was defused.
ERDOGAN SPEAKS TO BUSH ON PHONE
PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan called U.S. President George Bush on Monday. During the phone talk, Bush again qualified the terrorist organization PKK as "a common enemy" and said they will continue with intelligence sharing. Erdogan-Bush phone talk took place when Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and Massoud Barzani, the head of the regional administration in north of Iraq, were having a meeting.

NEW PERIOD IN TURKISH-U.S. RELATIONS
USA provided "technological intelligence" during the recent operations conducted by Turkish Air Forces. Turkish government thinks that Washington`s cooperation is a remarkable change of attitude. According to sources, the impression within PKK that USA would not carry out any action against it vanished as well.
PHONE TALK ON "OPERATION"
Following the operations waged by Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) on the north of Iraq, Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan called U.S. President George W. Bush on the phone.
During the conversation, Bush said that terrorist organization PKK was not only the enemy of Turkey and USA, but also it was an enemy of Iraq.
Meanwhile, Erdogan explained that the targets were successfully bombed and no civilians were harmed.

U.S. President George W. Bush and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan --who spoke on the phone-- discussed fight against terrorist organization PKK. Bush said that PKK is common enemy of the U.S. and Iraq. He also said they will continue to exchange intelligence and cooperate with Turkey. On the other hand, Erdogan said that the fight against PKK will continue with cooperation with U.S. and Iraq.
15 PERCENT INCREASE IN PRICE OF ELECTRICITY
The government opened the decree to signature for rise in electricity prices after five years (without any rise in price). The increase is envisaged as 15 percent in houses, and 10 percent in industry sector. The increase will be put into effect as of 2008.

10-15 P.C. RISE IN ELECTRICITY PRICES
The Council of Ministers, during its meeting on Monday, decided to raise electricity prices. The electricity used in houses will be up 15 percent and the electricity used in industry will be up 10 percent as of January 1st. Electricity prices have not been raised for five years. Turkish authorities are also thinking of raising natural gas prices.

BLACK BOX OF CYPRUS CRISIS
According to U.S. archives, Greece planned to attack Turkey over Thrace after Cyprus Peace Operation. Greece planned to wage an attack on Turkey between July 20th-25th, 1974, however, U.S. intelligence learned about such plan with all the details of it beforehand, an evaluation report found in the archive said.
DISASTER PREVENTED
Police arrested a bomber who was getting prepared for an attack at Mecidiyekoy subway station of Istanbul. The bomber was carrying 3.5 kilograms of A-4 plastic explosives. Police detained another person in connection with the incident as well.
Meanwhile, security forces took serious measures at airports and shopping malls against sensational attacks that could be waged by the terrorist organization.

The United States unveiled documents about Cyprus between 1973 and 1976. According to documents, nothing was done despite CIA informed first Cyprus operation beforehand. On the other hand, the second Peace Operation could not be stopped because CIA did not know it would be staged.

Turkish Armed Forces continue to wage operations at the Turkish-Iraqi border under harsh weather conditions. In spite of the extremely cold and foggy weather, Turkish soldiers enter every cave and valley in Yuksekova region to hunt terrorists. The temperature in the region reaches -27 Degrees Celsius, sources said.

A PKK terrorist was sent to Istanbul before the Eid al-Adha after he got bomb training in Mount Qandil. The terrorist was arrested in Mecidiyekoy, Istanbul with 3.2 kilograms of A-4 explosives. Acting on a tip-off that a terrorist trained on explosives has been in Istanbul to stage an attack, police launched operations. But police allowed the terrorist to arrive in Istanbul to find his connections. Sehabettin Demir arrived in Istanbul ten days ago and settled in a house in Yenibosna. Police learned that he would explode the bomb in a shopping mall during the Eid al-Adha. However, the terrorist organization delayed the attack due to Turkey`s cross-border operation into north of Iraq. When the bomber came to a ticket office to get on a subway, police arrested him. There were A-4 explosives in his back pack.
