WASHINGTON D.C. - The U.S. Department of State said Saturday it supports Turkey`s efforts to end the terrorist organization PKK threat.
The United States will continue to use diplomatic, military and intelligence means regarding this matter, Chase Beamer, the spokesman of the Bureau of European & Eurasian Affairs of the Department, told A.A correspondent after Saturday`s operation of the Turkish Armed Forces against the terrorist organization PKK targets in north of Iraq.
Turkish jets bombed some important targets belonging to terrorist PKK/KONGRA-GEL organization in the north of Iraq between the hours of 2:25 and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Beamer said the United States also encourages Turkey to raise its cooperation with itself and the Iraqi government to the highest level, use its legitimate right to defend itself, but not to have a negative effect on the Iraqi people and Iraq`s stability.
Chase Beamer also said it is of key importance that the target is only the terrorist organization PKK and the operations do not cause any civilian casualties.
