10 Thousand Policemen Will Come To Istanbul As Back-up For Nato Summit

ABANT - Turkish Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu has said, ''10 thousand policemen will come to Istanbul from other provinces of Turkey for NATO Summit.''
Replying to questions of journalists, Aksu said on Sunday, ''many heads of state and government, ministers and high-ranking military officials will attend the Summit of NATO Heads of State and Government in Istanbul between June 28 and 29.''
''Even the most unlikely things were taken into consideration. Security of the summit will be jointly provided by the Security Department, Gendarme Forces Command and Coast Guard Command. 10 thousand policemen will come to Istanbul from the other provinces as back-up for the NATO Summit,'' he said.
Aksu told reporters, ''people have the right to display their democratic reactions. We have allocated 16 places for those who will hold rallies and demonstrations. Turkey has made a series of significant decisions under the European Union political criteria. We did not make these decisions just because EU wanted them. We aim to provide our people with the opportunity of using their democratic rights.''
