MADRID - Spanish PM Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero met Turkish Nobel-laureate author Orhan Pamuk on Thursday.
Pamuk is actually in Spanish capital of Madrid within the scope of a Turkish cultural and artistic event.
According to Zapatero's office, the Spanish premier wanted to meet Pamuk and the meeting took place at the Spanish parliament.
Zapatero and Pamuk debated the Alliance of Civilizations initiative in the meeting. Pamuk supported the initiative and said the initiative should not only be a political or governmental one, but also involve all parts of the society, particularly the intellectual circles.
The Spanish PM invited Pamuk to participate in the First Alliance of Civilizations Annual Forum that will take place in Madrid on January 15th-16th, and the author accepted the invitation with pleasure.
