Turkey's Ambassador To U.S.: Turkish - Greek Relations Will Be Better If Cyprus And Aegean Issues Are Solved

WASHINGTON - Turkish-Greek relations would become better if Cyprus and Aegean issues were solved, Turkey's Ambassador to the United States Faruk Logoglu said on Thursday.
Logoglu, who met with a group of U.S. Congress, said that significant development had been recorded in Turkish-Greek relations when compared with four years ago.
Conditions of West Thracian Turks had bettered, Logoglu noted.
Logoglu said that Greece supported Turkey's European Union (EU) process.
Only Cyprus and Aegean issues remained between the two countries, Logoglu pointed out.
Logoglu said that Turkish-Greek relations would become as good as Turkish-Bulgarian relations when those two issues were resolved.
Turkey and Greece got closer to each other after devastating earthquakes hit both countries in 1999. Relief teams from two countries rushed to each other to heal wounds of the massive earthquakes.
Politicians also contributed to this process.
