ANKARA - State Institute of Statistics (DIE) announced on Thursday that annual inflation in May was 9.56 percent in wholesale prices and 8.88 percent in consumer prices.
Wholesale prices dropped by 0.03 percent while consumer prices rose by 0.38 percent in May when compared to April.
In the first five months of 2004, inflation rate became 9.29 percent in wholesale prices and 3.18 percent in consumer prices.
Meanwhile, according to 12-month averages as of May 2004, annual inflation rate was 15.16 percent in wholesale prices and 18.19 percent in consumer prices.
Price increase in the private sector of manufacturing industry which is called core inflation rate became 1.8 percent in March.
