Turkish Court Releases Two People Accused In Al-qaeda Bombings

ISTANBUL - Istanbul State Security Court (DGM) released two defendants accused of involvement in four devastating truck bomb attacks on November 15 and 20, 2003 in Istanbul on Thursday.
Sixty-nine suspects are being tried in the lawsuit filed on charges that they have been involved in the bomb attacks in Istanbul on November 15 and 20, 2003 and on charges that they have carried out activities for international terrorist organization Al-Qaeda in Turkey.
The court only agreed to release two men; Bulent Tozoglu and Ismet Alcik.
Istanbul DGM no: 2 delegation decided on Monday to suspend all the procedures in the lawsuit filed in connection with four devastating truck bomb attacks in Istanbul until the law on abolition of the DGMs enters into force.
Istanbul DGM finished the fourth day of hearing on Thursday.
Istanbul suffered a series of devastating suicide truck bomb attacks targeting Neve Shalom Synagogue and Beth Israel Synagogue on November 15, 2003 and on HSBC Bank headquarters and British Consulate General in Istanbul on November 20, 2003 in which 61 people were killed and more than 700 people were injured. Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for those attacks. Turkish police captured 69 people in connection with the suicide attacks.
