ISTANBUL - Albanian Economics Minister Anastas Angjeli has invited Turkish businessmen to bid for Albanian tenders open to foreign companies.
Anastas Angjeli, Tirana Chamber of Commerce Chairman Luan Bregasi and Albanian Economics Ministry bureaucrats visited Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) on Thursday.
Speaking at the meeting, Angjeli said that they were pleased with reflection of ties of friendship between Turkey and Albania on bilateral trade and partnership with Turkey had significantly contributed to development in fields of both trade and investments in Albania. Noting that they were pleased with increase in exports from Albania to Turkey last year, Angjeli stressed that chambers of commerce played important role in increase in cooperation.
Stating that state-run companies in strategic fields in Albania like communications and mining would be privatized, Angjeli said, ''I invite also Turkish businessmen to these tenders which are open to foreign companies.''
Meanwhile, ITO Board Chairman Mehmet Yildirim said that they had visited Albania few weeks ago for Turkish Export Products Exhibition.
Noting that they had been carrying out important efforts to improve trade and cooperation, Yildirim said, ''both Turkey and Albania will have important partnerships in both European Union countries and Balkans and Caucasus. We do our best for signing of a trade agreement between Turkey and Albania. This agreement should be signed as soon as possible for development of bilateral trade.''
