ANKARA - Turkish Parliamentary Human Rights Commission Chairman Mehmet Elkatmis and three Turkish parliamentarians would monitor the trial of Palestinian parliamentarian Marwan al-Barguti, who is kept in an Israeli prison, sources said on Thursday.
Sources said that the parliamentary delegation would go to Israel on Friday to monitor the court session which would be held on June 6.
The group will have several meetings in Israel and Palestine and return to Turkey on June 8.
Turkish-Palestinian Interparliamentary Friendship Group Chairman Huseyin Tanriverdi and seven parliamentarians went to Palestine in May and focused on situation of two Palestinian parliamentarians in prison.
Head of Palestinian legislative council had sent a letter to Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc and asked Turkey to launch initiatives to free two Palestinian parliamentarians who were kept in an Israeli prison and who were exposed to mal-treatment.
Arinc gave the letter to Parliamentary Human Rights Commission and asked the commission to deal with the issue.
