COSKUN: REMTECH PROJECT INITIATED BY TURKEY IS OPEN TO PARTICIPATION OF ALL COUNTRIES
ISTANBUL - Turkish Industry and Trade Minister Ali Coskun has said that the Emerging Regional Markets Technology Transfer Network (REMTECH) project was open to participation of all countries.
Making opening remarks of Business Symposium held under the Second Conference of OECD Ministers Responsible for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMSEs) on Thursday in Istanbul, Coskun said that Turkey initiated REMTECH project to emphasize the important that it attributes to OECD SMSEs process.
''Turkey proposes implementation of a new exemplary project for the OECD's next working program with the aim of supporting globalization process of SMSEs, encouraging technology transfer, enhancing cooperation between SMSEs and universities and research-development institutions, making use of modern informatics and communication means, forming visual and global chains of SMSEs and establishing cooperation networks among regional markets,'' he said.
Noting that the project was a reformist and flexible cooperation model that could contribute to various sectors between OECD and non-OECD countries, Coskun said the final target of the project was to have SMSEs develop joint technology products by overcoming obstacles created by physical destinations in global markets.
Stating that Turkey proposed to implement the first pilot project in the automotive by-industry, Coskun said that the project which was expected to be put into practice by Turkey, Brazil, Italy and Austria was open to participation of all countries.
''This project invites leading automobile manufacturers in all countries. Project enables national SMSEs networks to market all parts necessary for same products and models in global and visual environment,'' he added.
IFC DEPUTY PRESIDENT KLEIN SAYS APPROPRIATE COMPETITION FIELD SHOULD BE CREATED BETWEEN SMES AND BIG COMPANIES
Micheal Klein, chief economist and deputy president of International Finance Corporation (IFC), said on Thursday that an appropriate competition field should be created between small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) and big companies.
Klein addressed the Business Symposium organized as a part of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Istanbul Ministerial Conference on Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship.
He said that the more competition, the more products would be.
Klein noted that they provided 60 SMEs of poor countries with loan amounting to 5.5 billion U.S. dollars annually.
