Turkish State Minister In Washington

WASHINGTON - Turkish State Minister Besir Atalay proceeded from New York to Washington early on Thursday.
Atalay, representing Turkey in the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Ministers' Delegation formed to find a solution to Palestinian-Israeli dispute, is expected to meet with representatives of Turkish community in Washington later in the day.
The Ministers' Delegation including Atalay was expected to meet with U.S. State Minister Colin Powell, but the meeting was cancelled since Powell was accompanying U.S. President George Bush during his visit to Italy.
The meeting is planned to take place at a later date.
OIC Ministers' Delegation met with European Union (EU) Term President Ireland's Foreign Minister Brian Cowen and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in May.
The delegation including Atalay, Malaysian, Senegalese, Moroccan and Palestinian ministers, had a meeting with United Nations (UN) Secretary General Kofi Annan in New York on Wednesday.
