Istanbul Municipality Closes Mevlana Year With Performance Of Whirling Dervishes

ISTANBUL - Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality`s activities for the 2007 Mevlana Year ended on Saturday with a performance of the whirling dervishes.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality opened the Mevlana year activities on June 19th, which included concerts, international symposiums and exhibitions.
Having accepted the proposal of Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism in March 2006, UNESCO proclaimed 2007 as International Rumi Year to mark 800th birth anniversary of Mevlana with celebrations throughout the world.
