ISTANBUL - Deputy Chairman of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party Egemen Bagis called for international cooperation against terrorism, qualifying terror as "a global phenomenon."
"No one is safe unless all are safe and fight against terrorism needs an international cooperation," Bagis told Saturday`s "Turkish-Italian Media Forum: Understanding Turkey."
Touching on Turkey`s fight against the terrorist organization PKK, Bagis said his country received international support from many world leaders after what he called as "Turkey`s diplomatic engagement."
"Never before Turkey has seen such a high level of international solidarity in its fight against the PKK and this is the outcome of well-conducted diplomacy," he said.
"We want to show that many problems can be solved through diplomacy and we believe that war should be last option to resort," Bagis said.
Bagis also said Turkey was cooperating with the U.S. and the central Iraqi government in its fight against the terrorist organization PKK and added that Turkey would never take a negative attitude or attack against Iraqi civilians.
