EDIRNE - Turkish police seized 122 kilograms of heroin and 260 kilograms of hashish at border gates in northwestern Edirne province in one month, Governor's Office said on Wednesday.
Edirne Governor's Office said that police detained 24 people in connection with drug smuggling and noted that 15 of those people were sent to prison.
Turkish security forces had confiscated 937.6 kilograms of drugs at Kapikule, Ipsala and Derekoy border gates of Edirne in the first four months of 2004. Thirty-three people had been detained in connection with the haul.
