MERSIN - Spanish Ambassador in Ankara Manuel de La Camara said on Wednesday that Turkey was an important country for the European Union (EU).
Camara, who visited Mersin Chamber of Trade and Industry Kadri Saman, said Spain was positive toward Turkey's EU membership.
Camara said some of the EU member countries were not positive toward Turkey's EU membership, noting that Turkey had to be included in the EU.
Camara said the importance, which a Mediterranean country having overwhelmingly Moslem population, attributed to democracy should be seen.
Camara said important decisions were taken in Turkey's adjustment process to the EU, stating that they would expend support for Turkey's accession to the EU.
