ANKARA - Foreign Ministry Spokesman Namik Tan said on Wednesday that the statement of PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorist organization that it would end cease-fire as of June 1 was a clear evidence that its armed characteristic still continued.
Upon a question in a weekly press conference, Tan said that PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorist organization held a congress between May 16 and 26 at Kandil mountain in the north of Iraq, where it continued its armed existence, by benefiting from special current conditions of Iraq.
Tan said that the congress and the organization's decision on ending cease-fire and disarmament were clear evidences of continuation of its armed characteristic.
Tan said that the statements of PKK included threats against Turkey's unity and security. He added that Turkey expected members of the organization to surrender to justice together with their weapons.
Noting that PKK terrorist organization takes place in the terrorist organizations lists of the United States and the European Union (EU) with its three names, Tan said that Turkey was expecting the countries, which made a joint solidarity in fight against international terrorism, to reinforce the solidarity and cooperation in this field.
