ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister & Chief Negotiator for the EU talks Ali Babacan returned from Greece to Turkey on Wednesday.
On his flight to Turkey, when journalists asked about the attack on Andreas Robopulos, a journalist of Mega TV, Babacan said he learned with great sorrow that two assailants attacked Robopulos in Istanbul today (Wednesday).
Babacan said Robopulos was slightly injured in the attack and got outpatient treatment in the hospital.
"Necessary investigation has been launched into the attack. The reason of the attack is not clear yet. We express regret over the incident and wish speedy recovery to him," Babacan noted.
Babacan paid a two-day formal visit to Greece upon an invitation of his Greek counterpart Dora Bakoyianni. The Turkish foreign minister met his Greek counterpart and was received by Greek President Karolos Papoulias, Greek PM Costas Karamanlis and Parliament Speaker Dimitris Sioufas.
Babacan also visited Komotini city of Greece and met Turkish community living in Western Thrace. Babacan was the first foreign minister of Turkey who visited Western Thrace in 47 years.
