ANKARA - Turkish government plans to sell part of its shares in Turk Telekom by May 2008 the latest.
Government holds 45 percent of stocks in Turk Telekom and plans to sell 15 or 25 percent of them in a public tender. Council of Ministers will soon make its final decision on this public offering.
Government also initiated a tender process to determine the consulting firm which will carry out public offering procedures. This process is expected to be finalized in January.
55 percent of Turk Telekom was privatized in a tender on July 1st, 2005. Oger Telecoms group won the tender offering 6.55 billion USD.
